Read, decide, write — in Kroll

Every prescription runs the same pipeline: intake, parse, read Kroll context, AI decisions, write, webhook. Your team reviews exceptions. Everything else is automatic.

The full pipeline

Whether a prescription arrives by fax or digital API, it follows the same path through AutoRx.

  1. Intake

Fax images arrive via your connected fax-to-cloud provider; digital Rxs arrive via the AutoRx API from EMR or clinic partners.

  2. Parse and normalize

Vision and comprehension agents extract patient, drug, sig, prescriber, and quantity fields. Handwriting, shorthand, and multi-drug faxes are all handled.

  3. Read from Kroll

Before any write, the agent pulls your patient profile, relevant drug history, your drug catalog, and (for compounding) your mix catalog.

  4. AI decisions

Grounded in Kroll context, the agent selects the DIN, strength, sig mapping, and mitte. DPD fallback runs when a product is not in your local catalog.

  5. Write to Kroll

The write is queued and executed asynchronously. Transient errors (network, Kroll locks) retry with exponential backoff.

  6. Webhook delivery

Completion and failure events are posted to your configured endpoint in real time.

  7. Exception queue

Low-confidence results, unrecognized prescribers, or unresolvable DINs route to your team with the original document attached.

Why read before write?

Prescription automation that pastes from OCR text alone causes wrong DIN selections. The agent cannot know whether "atorvastatin 20mg" should map to the brand or generic, which manufacturer you stock, or whether the patient already has a recent fill — unless it reads Kroll first. AutoRx reads before every write. That is how a 95%+ first-attempt success rate is possible.

What your team still owns

AutoRx does not make clinical decisions and does not dispense. Your team retains full oversight.

Exception review

Pharmacists and technicians review the exception queue and confirm flagged prescriptions before any write proceeds.

Clinical judgment

AutoRx handles mechanical entry. Clinical appropriateness of the prescription stays with your licensed staff.

Full audit trail

Every AI parse, write attempt, retry, and human correction is logged with a timestamp and actor in the dashboard.

Override at any time

Staff can correct any auto-parsed field and approve or reject the write directly from the exception view.
